JACKET: WASTELAND LA
DENIM SKIRT: AMERICAN APPAREL
BELT: AMERICAN VINTAGE LA
A sucker for mock-croc this vintage cover-up caught my eye whilst clawing through the rails of cool clobber at Wasteland on Melrose Ave during my trip to LA LA Land. I guess the best way to describe Wasteland is one of those ultra-hip, trend-setting style outlets that you step into and are instantly immersed in effortless coolness. Not only do they stock lust after labels such as UNIF, MINKPINK, Evil Twin and Finders Keepers they also house a sea of slick vintage from $75 DVF dresses and $240 Balenciaga boots to trendy thrifted threads under $30. A style maven's Mecca.
Anyway, I digress. Back to the lecture at hand. (yes I did just quote Dre)...
Being the possessor of petite proportions I did worry that I might look a tad swamped by this long, lightweight lovely but the heart wants what the heart wants and at only $18 it would be silly of me not to give it the benefit of the doubt. And boy am I glad that I did. I'm pleased to let you know that we've been spending quite a lot of time together since my return to the Big Smoke and that my feelings for this peng 80's piece have grown from like to love. I've even brought it round to my parents.
I swiped this American Apparel pencil skirt from the LA factory store for $44 (£28) and its skintight structure perfectly balances out the loose fit of my beige beau. My old faithfuls aka my Topshop Allegra boots add height without looking too 'dressed up' and are comfy enough to get my Candy on without the balls of my feet giving out. The bare legs are just for my bitches. *wink*
