WHISTLES // DOVER STREET FLAGSHIP LAUNCH
It's very very rare that I fall head over heels in love with each and every piece of a brand's collection, so head over heels that I refuse to enter the store altogether for fear of bankruptcy. Whistles I avoid like the plague. Until I was invited down to the launch of their new Dover Street Flagship store that is. Gulp. Standing outside Whistles' chic new digs I caught a glimpse of neon, lace and leather through the grand arched windows and was tempted to flee the scene when I heard it. Spice Girls Holler. Drawn in like an R'n'B loving moth to a soulful flame I entered the store, grabbed a Blue Moon cocktail and prepared to face my fashwa fear - Whistles SS13.
If I could describe the SS13 collection in two words they'd be 'perfection' and 'sports-luxe-alicious'. Gorge geometric and floral prints, touch me textures of soft leather, lace, lattice and cashmere as well as block whites, cobalt blues and pops of neon - Whistles have more than done the season's trends justice. Of course my fave pieces would be part of the Limited Edition range wouldn't they?! Double denim in the form of a jacquard top and matching trousers left me weak at the knees and a pair of leather dungarees so AH-MAZ-ING they gave me actual butterflies. I'd have gladly taken home a whole host of the main range too - a speckled silk tee, cobalt lace skirt, mesh insert sweater and orchid print bomber had my name all over them - as did a pair of neon stilettos and the much coveted Delilah clutch (which you can now have monogrammed FYI). All painfully pretty and so out of my price range it hurts. *weeps*
Shimmying to the sounds of blogging ubér-babe Bip Ling on the decks whilst snacking on cocktails and candy and chin-wagging with the oh so fabulously friendly Whistles girls - the launch event itself was a fun and laid-back affair perfectly suited to the clean cut, chilled out vibe of the store. Since the brand's monumental restyle at the hands of Superwoman Shepherdson (fan-girl alert) Whistles has rapidly and rightly earned it's stripes as a contemporary British fashion leader. After getting to grips with the brand's signature clean lines, modern silhouettes and chic colour palettes I reckon it's a title Whistles will be boasting for years to come.
